quietly waiting
on each breath life ascends
return to starlight

One year ago tonight, I sat in a hospital room with my Dad as he fought the inevitable.
It was a long night. I was helpless in it's immensity.
The following morning I stood up and turned from the bed to talk to my brother on the phone.
As soon as I did...my father died.
I suppose life, and death, can be funny that way.
But his love carried me home.

brief shining moments
painful clarity of light
cut into the day

Sunday, December 31, 2017

hope settles lightly
as moonlight on dark branches
quiet gratitude

Monday, May 15, 2017

memories gather
sea foam stretched across the sand
twilight wide-open

invited to swim
lives shine and flow around me
the honor is mine

...................................................

haiku eludes me tonight,
perhaps trying too hard to express
that simple gratitude from just being human

may my mirror be cleared of my own reflection
reflecting the depth of the beauty around me
allowed to see into those shining pools
and speechless with the honor

with soft pink laughter
they dance along dark branches
playing in the sun

Sunday, February 21, 2016

lost in the colours
as the day enters my room
minutes suspended

Monday, February 15, 2016

the day's golden threads
wrap around me like a gift
walk into the sun

Wednesday, February 10, 2016

dance close to the edge
and tilt headlong into life
then words become wings

Friday, February 5, 2016

facing Orion
stars fall gently on my skin
life effervescent

Tuesday, February 2, 2016

while I find my way
steps become light on this path
surrounded by love

Thursday, January 28, 2016

with acceptance, grace
my bones the blue-green water
smoothing out the stones

Sunday, January 24, 2016

inspired to write
but the words skitter away
in my hands, moonlight

Monday, January 18, 2016

floating in the air
golden minutes of the day
swirl and fall gently

Saturday, January 16, 2016

lost in the colour
thousands of heartbeats later
I take a slow breath

Sunday, January 10, 2016

shuttered blue windows
open in the winter sky
a flash of red wings

Saturday, January 9, 2016

shadows dance with light
in stories told through smiles
death is not quiet

Thursday, December 17, 2015

up through the fathoms
spinning galaxies resound
music on my skin

Tuesday, December 1, 2015

they brush my eyelids
and the swirling years, they dance
warm golden sunlight

Tuesday, November 24, 2015

I can feel the words
embedded in the shadows
syllables of light
